Die Zhejiang University Program of Marine Scholarship of China 2024 are open for applications now. The ocean, which covers about 71% of the Earth’s surface, plays a primary role in addressing climate change and supporting the global economy, trade and livelihood. Sustainable ocean development has a direct impact on the development and prosperity of all coastal countries now and in the future. And it has become an inexorable trend worldwide that, through international cooperation and exchange, we should deepen our understanding of the ocean and promote sustainable ocean development to enhance regional and global economic prosperity.
Unter dieser Überlegung initiieren die State Oceanic Administration (SOA) und das chinesische Bildungsministerium gemeinsam das Programm des Marine Scholarship of China (im Folgenden als Stipendium bezeichnet), um herausragende Studenten aus den Küstenländern oder -regionen finanziell zu unterstützen das Südchinesische Meer, den Pazifik und den Indischen Ozean und afrikanische Entwicklungsländer, um in China für einen Master- oder Doktortitel in Ozeanographie oder anderen verwandten Fachgebieten zu studieren, fortgeschrittene Fachleute auf verwandten Gebieten für Entwicklungsländer zu kultivieren, die internationale Meereskooperation und den internationalen Austausch zu verbessern, und Förderung der harmonischen Meeresentwicklung in der Region und auf der ganzen Welt.
Der China Scholarship Council (CSC) ist für die Zulassung und die routinemäßige Verwaltung des Stipendiums zuständig.
I. Einschreibungskandidaten
i.The applicant should be a citizen of non-Chinese nationality in good health, from a coastal/island country in South China Sea, the Indian Ocean, the Pacific and its surrounding island countries, or an African developing country.
ii. Der Bewerber muss sich für das Postgraduiertenprogramm für meeresbezogene Spezialitäten bewerben.
iii.Jedem Bewerber, der derzeit in ozeanografischen und relevanten Sektoren tätig ist, wird hohe Priorität eingeräumt.
II. Berechtigung zum Programm der Zhejiang-Universität für Meeresstipendien
i. Der Bewerber für ein Masterstudium muss einen Bachelorabschluss haben und in der Regel jünger als 40 Jahre sein.
ii. Der Bewerber für ein Promotionsstudium muss einen Master-Abschluss haben und in der Regel jünger als 45 Jahre sein.
III. Dauer des Stipendiums
i.Kandidaten für einen Master-Abschluss: 2-3 Jahre Studium mit dem Stipendium
ii.Candidates for doctoral degree: 3–4 years of study with the Scholarship
iii. Stipendiatinnen und Stipendiaten, die Chinesisch als Unterrichtssprache wählen und vor ihrem formalen Studium einen chinesischen Sprachunterricht beantragen, erhalten eine einjährige Ausbildung und ihre Stipendienfinanzierung wird entsprechend um ein Jahr verlängert.
iv.The duration of the Scholarship will be defined upon the student’s admission to the university and will not be extended in principle. If a student is unable to finish the program for some special reasons, his or her scholarship may be extended until graduation with prior consent of SOA, the university and CSC.
IV. Einzelheiten zur Finanzierung des Marinestipendienprogramms der Universität Zhejiang
i.Befreiung von Anmeldegebühren, Studiengebühren, Laborgebühren, Praktikumsgebühren und Gebühren für grundlegende Lernmaterialien und Unterkunft auf dem Campus
ii.Living allowance: RMB 1,700 per month for master’s students and RMB 2,000 per month for doctoral students

Hinweise:
1. An extra experiment or internship beyond the teaching program, if requested by the Scholarship student, shall be at the student’s own expense.
2. Fees for basic learning materials cover those essential textbooks chosen and provided gratis by the university for the student’s academic program. And apart from these essential materials, other books are at the student’s own expense.
3. A living allowance is to be granted by the university on a monthly basis, starting from the date of the student’s entrance. For the first month, the students who register before or on the 15th day of the month will receive the allowance in full, and those after the 15th day of the month will receive it in half. The allowance will extend half a month after the specified graduation date designated by the university. As for those who suspend, quit or complete their academic program and return to their own country, the allowance will stop from the next month. The allowance covers the holidays recognized by the university. Those who are away in the holidays and unable to get their allowance in time may receive their dues when return to the university. And as for those who are late for registration or stay away from the school without any formality of asking for absence for a time longer than one month, the allowance for that month shall be cancelled.
Those who have to suspend their program because of pregnancy or severe disease must return to their own country for delivery or recovery, and the travel must be at their own expense. For those who have been approved by the school authority to suspend their program, their qualification for the Scholarship may extend for no longer than one year and the allowance will stop during the suspension. But those who suspend their program on other reasons will be disqualified from the scholarship.
4. The outpatient medical service covers only outpatient treatment at the university hospital or a hospital designated by the university authority. After the treatment, the student needs to pay part of the charge according to related university regulations.
5. The Comprehensive Medical Insurance for Chinese Government Scholarship Students mainly covers the fees incurred by the student’s inpatient treatment for major illnesses or personal accidents. The premium will be prepaid by the university or the designated rescue agency, that will go to the insurance company with the receipt for the fees to make the claim. The insurance company will not settle personal claims.
V. Zhejiang University Program of Marine Scholarship Bewerbungszeit und -kanäle
Jedes Jahr, von Januar bis April, kann sich ein Bewerber an der Zhejiang University bewerben.
Materials for Zhejiang University Program of Marine Scholarship application
i. Bewerbungsformular für ein Stipendium der chinesischen Regierung (auf Chinesisch oder Englisch auszufüllen)
An applicant is supposed to log on to CSC’s online application system, fill in all the necessary information and then print the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship, which will be automatically generated after successful submission.
Das Online-Bewerbungssystem ist unter http://laihua.csc.edu.cn zu finden, und der Institutional Code der Zhejiang University lautet 10335.
ii. photocopy of last degree certificate. Certificates in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by notarized translation in Chinese or English.
iii. Akademische Zeugnisse. Transkripte in anderen Sprachen als Chinesisch oder Englisch müssen von notariell beglaubigten Übersetzungen in Chinesisch oder Englisch begleitet werden.
iv. Studien- oder Forschungsplan des Bewerbers in China (auf Chinesisch oder Englisch).
v.Zwei Empfehlungsschreiben in Chinesisch oder Englisch von Professoren oder außerordentlichen Professoren.
vi. photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (downloadable from CSC’s website) completed in Chinese or English. The applicant must strictly take all the examination as required by the Form. Leaving a blank or absence of signature of the doctor or seal of the hospital will make the form invalid.
These application documents will not be returned, no matter the application is accepted or not.
VII. Zulassungsprogramm für Meeresstipendien der Universität Zhejiang
SOA and the university will jointly organize a panel of reviewers to screen the candidates for the scholarship on the basis of the candidates’ academic performance and achievements and their supervisors’ opinions. The final list of scholarship awardees will be publicly announced.
ii. Im Auftrag von CSC sendet die Universität jedes Jahr bis zum 31. Juli den Zulassungsbescheid und das Visumantragsformular (JW201) an den Stipendiaten.
iii.In principle, the Scholarship student is not allowed to change the school, subject or duration of study pre-defined on the Admission Notice.
VIII. Annual Review of the Zhejiang University Program of Marine Scholarship
i.According to the Measures of Annual Review of Chinese Government Scholarship Status, CSC will carry out a comprehensive annual review of the scholarship students’ academic performance, attitude towards study, attendance records, behavior, rewards and punishments, etc.
ii. Stipendiaten müssen die Überprüfung bestehen, um sich für die Stipendienfinanzierung im nächsten Jahr zu qualifizieren. Diejenigen, die die Überprüfung nicht bestehen, können ihr Stipendium im nächsten Jahr ausgesetzt oder beendet werden.
iii.Those whose scholarship have been suspended may continue their study at the university at their own expense, and if they wish to recover eligibility of receiving the scholarship, they may attend the review next year and, upon passing the review, apply for the continuation of the Scholarship.
iv. Diejenigen, deren Stipendien offiziell beendet wurden, sind nicht berechtigt, die Rückforderung des Stipendiums zu beantragen.
