La Programme de bourses d'études marines de l'Université du Zhejiang en Chine 2024 are open for applications now. The ocean, which covers about 71% of the Earth’s surface, plays a primary role in addressing climate change and supporting the global economy, trade and livelihood. Sustainable ocean development has a direct impact on the development and prosperity of all coastal countries now and in the future. And it has become an inexorable trend worldwide that, through international cooperation and exchange, we should deepen our understanding of the ocean and promote sustainable ocean development to enhance regional and global economic prosperity.

Dans ce contexte, l'Administration océanique d'État (SOA) et le ministère de l'Éducation de Chine lancent conjointement le programme de bourses d'études marines de Chine (ci-après appelée la bourse) dans le but de fournir un soutien financier à des étudiants exceptionnels des pays côtiers ou des régions environnantes. la mer de Chine méridionale, les océans Pacifique et Indien et les pays africains en développement pour étudier en Chine pour une maîtrise ou un doctorat en océanographie ou dans d'autres spécialités connexes, en formant des professionnels avancés des domaines connexes pour les pays en développement, en renforçant la coopération et les échanges maritimes internationaux, et promouvoir le développement harmonieux des océans dans la région et dans le monde.

Le China Scholarship Council (CSC) est responsable des admissions et de la gestion courante de la bourse.

I. Candidats à l'inscription

i.The applicant should be a citizen of non-Chinese nationality in good health, from a coastal/island country in South China Sea, the Indian Ocean, the Pacific and its surrounding island countries, or an African developing country.

ii.Le candidat doit postuler au programme de troisième cycle de spécialités liées à l'océan.

iii. Tout candidat actuellement engagé dans des secteurs océanographiques et pertinents se verra accorder une priorité élevée.

II. Programme d'admissibilité aux bourses d'études marines de l'Université du Zhejiang

i.Le candidat aux études de maîtrise doit être titulaire d'un baccalauréat et être généralement âgé de moins de 40 ans.

ii. Le candidat aux études doctorales doit être titulaire d'une maîtrise et être généralement âgé de moins de 45 ans.

III. Durée de la bourse

i.Candidats à la maîtrise : 2-3 années d'études avec la bourse

iii. Les boursiers qui choisissent le chinois comme langue d'enseignement et demandent une formation en chinois avant leurs études universitaires formelles recevront une formation d'un an et verront leur bourse prolongée d'un an en conséquence.

iv.The duration of the Scholarship will be defined upon the student’s admission to the university and will not be extended in principle. If a student is unable to finish the program for some special reasons, his or her scholarship may be extended until graduation with prior consent of SOA, the university and CSC.

IV. Détails du financement du programme de bourses d'études marines de l'Université du Zhejiang

ii.Living allowance: RMB 1,700 per month for master’s students and RMB 2,000 per month for doctoral students

Notes:

1. An extra experiment or internship beyond the teaching program, if requested by the Scholarship student, shall be at the student’s own expense.

2. Fees for basic learning materials cover those essential textbooks chosen and provided gratis by the university for the student’s academic program. And apart from these essential materials, other books are at the student’s own expense.

3. A living allowance is to be granted by the university on a monthly basis, starting from the date of the student’s entrance. For the first month, the students who register before or on the 15th day of the month will receive the allowance in full, and those after the 15th day of the month will receive it in half. The allowance will extend half a month after the specified graduation date designated by the university. As for those who suspend, quit or complete their academic program and return to their own country, the allowance will stop from the next month. The allowance covers the holidays recognized by the university. Those who are away in the holidays and unable to get their allowance in time may receive their dues when return to the university. And as for those who are late for registration or stay away from the school without any formality of asking for absence for a time longer than one month, the allowance for that month shall be cancelled.

Those who have to suspend their program because of pregnancy or severe disease must return to their own country for delivery or recovery, and the travel must be at their own expense. For those who have been approved by the school authority to suspend their program, their qualification for the Scholarship may extend for no longer than one year and the allowance will stop during the suspension. But those who suspend their program on other reasons will be disqualified from the scholarship.

4. The outpatient medical service covers only outpatient treatment at the university hospital or a hospital designated by the university authority. After the treatment, the student needs to pay part of the charge according to related university regulations.

5. The Comprehensive Medical Insurance for Chinese Government Scholarship Students mainly covers the fees incurred by the student’s inpatient treatment for major illnesses or personal accidents. The premium will be prepaid by the university or the designated rescue agency, that will go to the insurance company with the receipt for the fees to make the claim. The insurance company will not settle personal claims.

Materials for Zhejiang University Program of Marine Scholarship application

An applicant is supposed to log on to CSC’s online application system, fill in all the necessary information and then print the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship, which will be automatically generated after successful submission.

ii. photocopy of last degree certificate. Certificates in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by notarized translation in Chinese or English.

iii.Relevés de notes académiques. Les transcriptions dans des langues autres que le chinois ou l'anglais doivent être accompagnées de traductions notariées en chinois ou en anglais.

iv. Le plan d'études ou de recherche du candidat en Chine (en chinois ou en anglais).

v.Deux lettres de recommandation en chinois ou en anglais par des professeurs ou des professeurs associés.

vi. photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (downloadable from CSC’s website) completed in Chinese or English. The applicant must strictly take all the examination as required by the Form. Leaving a blank or absence of signature of the doctor or seal of the hospital will make the form invalid.

These application documents will not be returned, no matter the application is accepted or not.

VII. Admissions au programme de bourses d'études marines de l'Université du Zhejiang

SOA and the university will jointly organize a panel of reviewers to screen the candidates for the scholarship on the basis of the candidates’ academic performance and achievements and their supervisors’ opinions. The final list of scholarship awardees will be publicly announced.

ii. Confiée par le SCC, l'université enverra l'avis d'admission et le formulaire de demande de visa (JW201) au boursier avant le 31 juillet de chaque année.

iii.In principle, the Scholarship student is not allowed to change the school, subject or duration of study pre-defined on the Admission Notice.

VIII. Annual Review of the Zhejiang University Program of Marine Scholarship

i.According to the Measures of Annual Review of Chinese Government Scholarship Status, CSC will carry out a comprehensive annual review of the scholarship students’ academic performance, attitude towards study, attendance records, behavior, rewards and punishments, etc.

ii. Les étudiants boursiers doivent réussir l'examen pour se qualifier pour le financement de la bourse de l'année prochaine. Ceux qui échouent à l'examen peuvent voir leur bourse suspendue ou résiliée l'année prochaine.

iii.Those whose scholarship have been suspended may continue their study at the university at their own expense, and if they wish to recover eligibility of receiving the scholarship, they may attend the review next year and, upon passing the review, apply for the continuation of the Scholarship.

iv.Ceux dont les bourses ont été officiellement résiliées ne sont pas éligibles pour demander le recouvrement de la bourse.
